MIDDLEBOROUGH — The Town of Middleborough is pleased to announce the hiring of several new town employees.
“It is my pleasure to welcome these new employees to the Town of Middleborough,” Select Board Chair Mark Germain said. “I am confident that these individuals bring the necessary background and skills needed to succeed in their new roles, and I look forward to watching the Town of Middleborough continue to grow and prosper under their leadership.”
Owen Thompson has been appointed as the new fire chief for the Town of Middleborough. Thompson officially began this role in September 2022.
Thompson has served as a firefighter for over 20 years, 16 of which have been in a supervisory and command capacity. Prior to this role, Thompson served as captain of the Brookline Fire Department since 2008. Before serving as captain for the Brookline Fire Department, Thompson served as the temporary deputy chief from May 2016 to December 2018.
Additionally, Thompson has held the position of building inspector in the metro-Boston area, and as construction project manager for Bond Bros Inc.
Thompson is a 2022 graduate of Massachusetts Fire Academy’s Chief Fire Officer Program and is currently working toward his bachelor’s degree in fire administration from Granite State University
Other appointees include Town Manager James McGrail, Superintendent of Schools Carolyn Lyons, Director of Economic and Community Development Paul DiGiuseppe, Treasurer/Collector R. Renee Fernandes and Town Accountant Robert Ekstrom.
